Traditional salt processing - Kusamba

Name of Kusamba is factually not far from the struggle history of Balinese in fight against the Dutch colonist. During the war against the Dutch in Kusamba on 23-24 May 1849, the Balinese hero had succeeds to make afraid the Dutch soldier and had killed the Dutch key man - Letnan General Michiel.

The strait between the two island is filled with fish and when the weather is calm, the seas are be speckled with white sails. Twice a day fisherman set out to Nusa Penida with cargoes to send peanuts, fruit and rice. The sailors of Kusamba with the big boat and five crews can carry up 1,5 tons across who wish to visit the coral gardens and white sand shores of Nusa Penida. They can across the sea from Banjar Tri Buana, Banjar Bias Coastal and Kampung Island Coastal with 30 minutes until 2 hours time differences and it is depend to the type and transportation medium speed utilized.



It is very picturesque scenery with the fishermen catching fish with their boats under the coconut palms.
Near the waters edge are the farmers producing salt in huts along the coast.
A very interesting place for a short visit.

Suluban coast comes from the Balinese language means "running or passing under something". for visitors who want to go there to pass through rocks that resembles a cave, before it finally reached the white sandy beach on the right-left high cliff, with thundering waves, if you want to have to surf out to sea because the waves are good there.
